Job Description
The Art Collection & Gallery Assistant's primary role is to assist with the campus art collection archive project, including photographing artwork, researching artists, documenting artwork locations on campus, and assisting with artwork cleaning and framing. This position also supports the Art Gallery by preparing for and installing/deinstalling shows, occasionally preparing promotional materials, such as posters or postcards, assisting with receptions and refreshments, and interfacing directly with exhibiting artists and students.
Qualifications/Skills Required
This position requires an interest in art and a willingness to learn basic information about artists, exhibitions, and activities hosted in the gallery. Additional skills in technology and creativity may be helpful for problem-solving and producing promotional materials. Ideal applicants will work well independently and have a respectful and friendly attitude when interacting with others. Applicants should also be able to climb up and down ladders, lift up to 30 pounds, and work on their feet for extended amounts of time, as needed. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of the ACSS/MS divisions, with day-to-day guidance from the Art Collection Coordinator.
