The Kings County Probation Department is currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of: Probation Technician $47,528.00 - $57,990.40 Annually The Kings County Probation Department is seeking motivated, dependable individuals interested in supporting probation operations and making a meaningful impact in the justice system. As a Probation Technician, you'll work closely with Deputy Probation Officers, assisting with interviews, preparing reports, monitoring individuals on the Electronic Monitoring Program, and supporting youth in the Juvenile Custodial Facility. Duty Sample

- Assists in the supervision of justice involved individuals to ensure that they comply with the terms and conditions of probation.
- Assists in the interviewing of justice involved individuals, parents, agency officials and others concerned with the justice involved individuals.
- Assists assigned Juvenile Services Officer(s) in the programming needs of youth in a custodial facility to ensure compliance with Title 15.
- Monitors justice involved individuals whereabouts via electronic monitoring software; responds to computer generated alerts; calls justice involved individuals to verify whereabouts; notifies the supervising Deputy Probation Officer if a justice involved individual is missing or out of compliance; monitors compliance through the use of reports and computer software.
- Installs and removes electronic monitoring equipment (e.g., ankle monitor); fits monitoring device to justice involved individuals; verifies equipment is transmitting properly; reviews and explains rules and regulations related to the electronic monitoring program and equipment as well as consequences of noncompliance and justice involved individuals responsibilities.
- Prepares and submits various types of reports including case recommendations; counsels the justice involved individuals and prepares treatment plans.
- Reviews court ordered documents; interprets minute orders, progress reports, and other court related documents.
- Sets-up appropriate payment plans and referrals for justice involved individual.
- Compiles, maintains and prepares statistical data records.
- Performs data entry of justice involved individuals weekly schedules.
- Administers drug and alcohol tests.
- Operates multiple software computer programs specific to the Probation Department.
- Travels to off-site facilities and courts as needed and assigned.
- May testify in court regarding justice involved individuals.
Minimum Qualifications **Minimum Requirements Must Be Met By The Closing Date**

- Education: Equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in corrections, criminal justice, social science or a closely related field. (Substitution: Experience performing duties related to the monitoring or supervising of justice involved individuals or the responsibility for related records and paperwork in a County Probation Department may substitute the required education on a year-for-year basis.)
- Experience: None required.
Licenses: Possession of a valid California driver's license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles at the time of appointment.
Special Requirements: Qualify for security clearance through a background investigation and fingerprint check. Ability to work standard eight-hour shifts or alternate shifts, such as ten- or twelve-hour shifts, work irregular hours including emergencies, evenings, weekends and holidays, work varying shifts as necessary, and work overtime or mandated overtime. Ability to work in a locked detentions facility which enforces a "lock down, no hostages" policy. Perform data entry with speed and accuracy at a level sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
