Opportunity Overview

We have an immediate opening for an Andrology Lab Technician to join our team at Shady Grove Fertility. This position will float between our offices in Webster, Houston, Memorial City, and Spring Woodlands, Texas.

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, from 6:45 AM to 3:00 PM Central Time; rotating weekends and holidays

How You’ll Contribute

In this role, the Andrology Lab Technician will:

  • Ship, receive and disposition of frozen samples
  • Order and receive lab supplies
  • Examine and process specimens for routine semen analysis
  • Perform counts for concentration and motility, perform histological techniques for identifying leucocytes, immature germ cells and morphology
  • Process semen for ART procedures and intrauterine inseminations (IUIs)
  • Perform semen cryopreservation
  • Assure proper sample collection, delivery and identification (chain of custody)
  • Perform daily/monthly quality control procedures for media and equipment used in the Andrology/Endocrine laboratory
  • Assist laboratory personnel in performing lab services in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws and guidelines to ensure laboratory maintains accreditation
  • Check and record daily temperature of refrigerators to ensure proper storage of media reagents
  • Perform quality controls, calibration and instrument preventive maintenance checks at the required frequency and documents such actions
  • Monitors supply of reagents and other material to ensure adequate supply at all times and orders supplies when necessary


What You’ll Bring

  • B.S. in Biology or other relevant science and/or MLT ASCP
  • Minimum of one year laboratory experience
  • Experience with a chemistry analyzer strongly preferred
  • Tissue culture experience (sterile technique) and/or semen processing a plus
