Job description

TITLE:  CTE Culinary Arts Paraprofessional CCI Center
The Harper Woods School District CTE Department is seeking a highly qualified individual for a position in the following area: CTE Paraprofessional for the Cooking and Related Culinary Arts program
Cooking and Related Culinary Arts program. Applicants applying for the CTE Cooking and Related Culinary Arts program must have the following skills:

Education Requirements:
Must possess and provide proof of High School Diploma or GED Certificate and a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited trade school, college or university.
Bachelor's degree in the field (is preferred)
Attendance 
Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record
Citizenship 
Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.
Physical Condition 
Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.
Experience
Although there are no specific requirements of work experience hours, work experience in the program however, experience in the field is valuable. If candidates can show relevant experience of 4,000 in that specific area, the district may request an Annual Career Authorization for the CTE paraprofessional (only if needed). Candidates must have technical writing skills, production skills, and technology-based background. Entry-level problem-solving skills are a must, with strong technical aptitude. The right candidates must be student-focused and foster a positive student-learning environment.
Essential Functions


















  1. Assist students with reading and comprehension aligned to the CTE program's curriculum.
  2. Able to lift equipment of 10lbs to 25lbs at times.
  3. Help students with various hospitality learning targets aligned to daily assignments, labs, projects, quizzes and exams within the classroom and kitchen lab.
  4. Provide one-on-one tutoring with specialized service students (IEP's & 504's) and selected general education students in the program.
  5. Work with small learning groups to assist with learning safety rules and regulations while using equipment.
  6. Perform individual demonstrations for students when needed.
  7. Conduct small learning groups to assist with reviewing academic materials with students prior to testing.
  8. Assist instructor with daily attendance.
  9. Assist instructor with grading, entering student grades and preparing student progress reports.
  10. Serve as an additional support, advisor and mentor for students.
  11. Assist with Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) for student leadership, growth and competitions.
  12. Participate in various professional developments for CTE staff aligned to the program for enhancement of skills, growth and experiences.
  13. Assist with creating, contacting and building advisory board partnerships for the program.
  14. The individual must adhere to the direction of the CTE Director.

*In the event the "highly-qualified" and certified teacher of record becomes absent for a duration of time, and the CTE paraprofessional has 4000 hours of recent and relevant experience, the district may request an Annual Career Authorization for the CTE paraprofessional, which allows them to substitute teach in the program.
