As a SMAI (Smart Manufacturing AI) Global OI (Operations Intelligence) – Scheduling and Simulation, Data Scientist, at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be part of Micron’s Smart Manufacturing Team comprised of world class talent to design and implement advanced scheduling, optimization, and simulation solutions that drive global innovation and maximize fab performance.

You will be located in Boise, US. You will be partnering with different departments and the global network of manufacturing sites to enable breakthrough solutions in the business. If you possess a growth mindset and are passionate about providing intelligent and autonomous manufacturing solutions, join us as we evolve the way Micron does our business!

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop smart manufacturing and AI solutions in advanced factory scheduling, optimization and simulation that enable the achievement of industry leading manufacturing capability.
  • Develop high-quality data analytics and applications that provide actionable insights for management and manufacturing teams.
  • Explore and apply new frontier ideas, concepts and technology to enable breakthrough solutions at Micron.
  • Collaborate across global sites to find opportunities and deliver complete solutions to drive continuous improvement in production metrics.
  • Drive global alignment and benchmarking of scheduling and simulation solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess a drive to make a difference and a passion for exploring new frontiers.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, with a strong work ethic, able to work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science or other quantitative disciplines with strong emphasis on optimization, simulation, and algorithmic problem-solving.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on or experience in factory scheduling, optimization modeling, or simulation in a manufacturing or operations context.
  • Able and willing to travel overseas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience in optimization (LP, MIP, meta‑heuristics) and tools like CPLEX/Gurobi.
  • Knowledge and experience in discrete event simulation and reinforcement learning.
  • Direct experience with factory scheduling.
