Digital Media Assistant


Company: Hour Media

Hour Media is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and client-focused Digital Media Assistant to join our team in Troy, MI. This is a full-time, entry-level position, and training will be provided.


This role is central to how we manage digital advertising campaigns for our award-winning media brands, including Hour Detroit, DBusiness, Detroit Design, and others. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who's comfortable working directly with clients, and who's also interested in gaining hands-on experience with social media content, web content, and campaign reporting.


About the Role

The Digital Media Assistant is primarily responsible for collecting and coordinating digital advertising assets from clients, and serving as a key point of contact throughout the process. You'll work closely with Media Advisors, designers, and the digital team to keep campaigns on track, and you'll have the opportunity to support broader digital marketing efforts, including social media and web content, plus reporting.


Key Responsibilities

Client Coordination (Primary Focus)

  • Serve as the main point of contact for collecting digital advertising materials from clients
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with clients to gather assets, resolve missing materials, and confirm approvals
  • Provide consistent status updates to Media Advisors and clients on asset collection and approval progress
  • Ensure all materials meet technical specs and deadlines
  • Open production tickets in Active Collab for the creative team once digital assets are received
  • Monitor project timelines and asset status using Magazine Manager

Digital Platform & Campaign Support

  • Coordinate advertising across Hour Media's digital platforms, including:
  • HourDetroit.com
  • DBusiness.com
  • DetroitDesignMag.com
  • DetroitWed.com
  • MichiganWineCountry.com
  • Hour Detroit Daily, DBusiness, and Michigan Wine Country newsletters
  • Manage and track advertiser content for sponsored articles, digital edition sponsorships, eBlasts, directory listings, and digital special sections
  • Assist the digital and production team as needed with tasks such as:
  • Scheduling and posting social media content
  • Assisting with web content updates and reporting
  • Supporting campaign reporting and performance tracking
  • Helping identify ways to improve digital asset collection workflows
  • Creating Active Collab tickets for select print ads


What We're Looking For

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. You'll be interacting directly with clients regularly
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and their backend/publishing tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
  • Accurate data entry and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and follow-up habits
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Client-focused mindset with a strong sense of urgency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
