Job description

Tax Staff II
Cincinnati, OH
Tax Compliance Is Where You Started. Trusted Advising Is Where You're Headed.
The best tax professionals don't simply follow a process. They ask questions, identify opportunities, and help clients navigate complex challenges with confidence. At Clark Schaefer Hackett, you'll continue building your technical expertise while developing the judgment, communication skills, and client relationships that transform strong tax practitioners into trusted advisors.
Why Tax Professionals Choose CSH
As a Top 65 CPA & Advisory Firm, we've built an outstanding reputation by helping clients solve complex business challenges while creating an environment where talented professionals can grow and thrive.
Just as importantly, we believe long-term success is only possible when talented people can also be successful outside of work. Our expectations are high, but we recognize that family, health, and personal commitments matter. We work hard to create a culture where professionals can build exceptional careers without feeling like they have to sacrifice the rest of their lives to do it.
At CSH, you'll work alongside experienced tax professionals, gain exposure to a diverse client base, and continue developing the technical and professional skills that support long-term career growth. We believe professional development happens through hands-on experience, mentorship, continuous learning, and increasing levels of responsibility.
What You'll Do
As a Tax Staff II, you'll play a meaningful role in delivering tax services to clients while taking on increasing responsibility across compliance, planning, and advisory engagements. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll continue expanding your technical knowledge while contributing directly to client success.
  • Prepare and review business and high-net-worth individual tax returns, tax filings, workpapers, and related deliverables in accordance with firm and professional standards.
  • Analyze client information and apply your understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations to identify and resolve issues.
  • Assist with tax research, projections, planning strategies, and other advisory initiatives that help clients achieve their business and financial goals.
  • Collaborate with Seniors, Managers, and Partners to deliver exceptional client service and practical tax solutions.
  • Continue developing technical expertise, professional judgment, and industry knowledge while supporting and collaborating with other members of the tax team.

Your Experience and Strengths
If you're ready to build on your public accounting experience, take on greater responsibility, and continue growing as a tax professional, we'd welcome the opportunity to connect.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Two or more years of tax experience in public accounting.
  • Progress toward CPA or EA certification, or a strong desire to pursue a professional credential.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a commitment to teamwork and client service.

What Makes This Opportunity Different
Many firms ask tax professionals to focus primarily on compliance.
At Clark Schaefer Hackett, we believe your career should grow beyond preparing returns. As a Tax Staff II, you'll have the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise while gaining exposure to planning, research, advisory projects, and meaningful client interactions. You'll work alongside experienced professionals who are invested in your development and committed to helping you build the skills needed for long-term success in public accounting.
Our goal is simple: to help you become not only a stronger tax technician, but a trusted resource for clients and colleagues alike.
For Consideration
If this opportunity aligns with your experience, career goals, and the type of culture you're looking for, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
