Measurement Technician – Deepwater

Company: Quality Process Services (QPS)
Location: CC Houma, LA / Deepwater Offshore
Schedule: 14 Days On / 14 Days Off
Shift: 12-Hour Days

Position Summary

Quality Process Services (QPS) is seeking an experienced Measurement Technician to support deepwater offshore oil and gas production operations. The Measurement Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate, reliable, and compliant liquid and natural gas measurement systems used for allocation and custody transfer.

The successful candidate must have hands-on experience with both liquid and gas measurement systems. This position will perform calibration, proving, sampling, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of measurement equipment while working with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and other technical personnel.

This is a rotational offshore position requiring the ability to work independently in a deepwater environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, measurement accuracy, regulatory compliance, and proper documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspection, calibration, verification, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both liquid and natural gas measurement systems.
  • Support allocation and custody transfer measurement activities for oil and natural gas production.
  • Perform and/or support LACT meter proving, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Inspect, calibrate, and troubleshoot sales gas measurement systems.
  • Collect and manage oil and natural gas samples used for allocation and custody transfer.
  • Troubleshoot liquid and gas measurement discrepancies, abnormal volumes, meter performance issues, and associated instrumentation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot flow computers, transmitters, analyzers, samplers, and other measurement-related equipment.
  • Work with single-phase metering systems including:
    • Positive displacement meters
    • Helical turbine meters
    • Orifice meters
    • V-cone meters
  • Use measurement software and Windows-based programs such as OMNICOM, PCCU32, and MON2000 to configure equipment, review measurement data, and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Review measurement data for accuracy and identify potential metering, calibration, sampling, or equipment problems.
  • Maintain accurate proving, calibration, inspection, sampling, testing, and maintenance records in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and other technical personnel to resolve measurement issues that may affect production allocation or custody transfer volumes.
  • Follow applicable company procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry measurement standards.
  • Safely perform measurement activities around operating production equipment and in variable deepwater offshore environmental conditions.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience and/or technical training in Oil & Gas Allocation and Custody Transfer measurement systems.
  • Hands-on experience with both liquid and natural gas measurement is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with LACT meter proving and liquid measurement systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with sales gas meter calibration and gas measurement systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and procedures related to:
    • Liquid and gas meter operation
    • Meter calibration and proving
    • Oil and gas sampling for custody transfer
    • Oil and gas measurement and sampling for allocation
  • Knowledge of single-phase oil and natural gas metering using positive displacement, helical turbine, orifice, and/or V-cone measurement technologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, calibrate, and maintain measurement equipment and associated instrumentation.
  • Ability to navigate and use Windows-based measurement programs such as OMNICOM, PCCU32, and MON2000, or similar measurement software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability and willingness to travel offshore and work a 14/14 deepwater rotation with 12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and in changing offshore environmental conditions.
  • Strong commitment to safety, accuracy, regulatory compliance, and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous offshore or deepwater oil and gas experience.
  • Experience independently maintaining and troubleshooting liquid and gas measurement systems in an oil and gas production environment.
  • Experience with both allocation and custody transfer measurement.
  • Current applicable offshore safety certifications and credentials.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in instrumentation, measurement, electronics, engineering technology, or a related technical field is helpful but not required.
Work Environment

This position requires rotational work at a deepwater offshore facility. Employees must be capable of working 12-hour shifts, climbing stairs and ladders, working around operating production equipment, and performing duties in changing offshore environmental conditions while following all required safety procedures.
