What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Intelligence Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Intelligence Analyst, you need strong analytical thinking, research abilities, and a relevant bachelor's degree, often in fields such as criminal justice, international relations, or political science. Familiarity with data analysis tools, open-source intelligence (OSINT) platforms, and database management systems is commonly required. What does an Entry Intelligence Analyst do?

An Entry Intelligence Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information to help organizations make informed decisions about security, business, or national interests. They often work with raw data from various sources, identify patterns or threats, and prepare reports for senior analysts or decision-makers. This is a junior-level position, so tasks may include data entry, initial analysis, and supporting more experienced analysts on larger projects. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings clearly.

What are some common challenges faced by entry-level intelligence analysts, and how can new hires overcome them?

Entry-level intelligence analysts often face challenges such as managing large volumes of data, quickly learning specialized analytical tools, and adapting to rapidly changing priorities. New hires can overcome these obstacles by actively seeking mentorship from experienced team members, staying organized with clear documentation, and participating in training sessions offered by the organization. Building strong communication skills and collaborating closely with colleagues in different departments also helps analysts deliver accurate and actionable intelligence reports.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting strategic, data-driven insights on global data center markets to support business planning, market entry, expansion strategy, and executive decision-making. This role analyzes market fundamentals across supply, demand, pricing, competitive activity, land, power, and infrastructure readiness, translating complex data into clear business implications.
The role requires deep familiarity with the data center industry, strong analytical rigor, and the ability to work across a wide range of internal and external datasets. The Senior Market Intelligence Analyst will also contribute as an informal leader within the team by mentoring junior colleagues, improving workflows, and helping elevate overall analytical capabilities. This work is global in scope and supports decision-making across multiple regions and markets.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead research and analysis of global data center, cloud, and digital infrastructure trends, including demand drivers, pricing, supply and demand dynamics, and hyperscaler infrastructure rollouts.
  • Analyze market fundamentals across global metros to identify strategic risks and opportunities related to customer demand, competitive supply, land availability, utility and power conditions, and regulatory dynamics.
  • Support data-driven recommendations to support market entry, expansion, and market prioritization strategies across global regions.
  • Track developments across AI, cloud, digital infrastructure, energy, and real estate, and translate them into actionable implications for site selection and location planning.
  • Own and enhance global market intelligence frameworks using demand signals, infrastructure readiness, power availability, policy considerations, and commercial attractiveness.
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve structured global market datasets, including pricing, supply pipelines, vacancy, land, power availability, and other key strategic inputs.
  • Own the integrity, structure, governance, and version control of internal market intelligence databases and analytical workflows.
  • Develop dashboards, visualizations, presentations, and executive-ready outputs in Excel, PowerPoint, and BI tools to support decision-making at senior leadership and board levels.
  • Leverage third-party data platforms and providers supporting data center, energy and power, land, and real estate analysis to strengthen market intelligence and strategic recommendations.
  • Provide informal leadership and mentorship to junior team members through guidance, knowledge sharing, review of work product, and support for best practices in analysis and reporting.

What We Are Looking For:

Required

  • 5-10 years of experience in market intelligence, strategy, consulting, investment analysis, or data analysis, with direct data center industry experience required.
  • Strong understanding of global data center market dynamics, including supply, demand, pricing, hyperscaler activity, infrastructure constraints, and site selection considerations.
  • Experience using third-party data providers and software platforms that support data center, energy and power, land, and real estate comparable analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and experience working with large, structured datasets and building repeatable analytical models.
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau to present insights clearly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with mapping software such as QGIS, Mapbox, or ArcGIS, and comfort working with spatial data, is preferred.
  • High attention to detail, strong intellectual curiosity, and the ability to investigate trends, anomalies, and emerging opportunities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex analysis into clear, decision-oriented insights for a variety of audiences.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of visibility, responsibility and independence.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide informal leadership, collaborate cross-functionally, and mentor others in a dynamic team environment.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10%, depending on business needs.

Preferred
