What jobs pay 200,000 a year in the USA?

Entry developers typically do not earn $200,000 annually; such high salaries are usually associated with senior or specialized roles like software engineers, data scientists, or IT managers with extensive experience and advanced skills. These positions often require advanced certifications, expertise in programming languages, and leadership responsibilities. Compensation at this level may also include bonuses, stock options, or other incentives.

What is the difference between Entry Developer vs Junior Developer?

AspectEntry DeveloperJunior Developer
Required CredentialsHigh school diploma or associate degree, basic coding skillsSimilar credentials, often with some coding coursework or certifications
Work EnvironmentEntry-level positions in tech companies, startups, or internshipsJunior roles in software teams, often under supervision
Employer & Industry UsageCommon in tech industries, entry-level job listingsWidely used in software development companies, tech sectors

Entry Developer and Junior Developer roles are similar, both requiring basic coding skills and entry-level credentials. The terms are often used interchangeably, with slight variations depending on the company. Both positions serve as stepping stones into software development careers, offering opportunities to gain practical experience and grow into more advanced roles.

What engineers make $500,000?

Senior software engineers, especially those with expertise in high-demand areas like machine learning, cloud computing, or cybersecurity, can earn $500,000 or more annually, often through a combination of base salary, bonuses, and stock options. Achieving this level typically requires extensive experience, advanced skills, and working at large technology companies or startups with significant funding.

What are entry developers?

Entry developers, sometimes called junior developers, are professionals who are at the beginning of their software development careers. They typically have basic programming skills and work under the guidance of more experienced developers to build, test, and maintain software applications. Entry developers often focus on learning new technologies, writing simple code, fixing bugs, and gradually taking on more complex tasks as they gain experience. Their role is essential for gaining practical knowledge and growing into more advanced development positions.

What do entry-level developers do?

Entry-level developers are responsible for writing, testing, and maintaining code under the supervision of senior developers. They often work with programming languages like Java, Python, or JavaScript and use development tools such as IDEs and version control systems. Their tasks may include debugging, updating existing software, and learning new technologies to build their skills.

How do I get a developer job with no experience?

Entry developer roles often require some programming knowledge, so building a portfolio through personal projects, contributing to open-source, or completing coding bootcamps can demonstrate skills. Gaining familiarity with common tools like Git, practicing coding challenges, and obtaining relevant certifications can also improve chances despite limited experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Developer, you need foundational programming skills, understanding of software development principles, and typically a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with coding languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript, as well as version control systems like Git, is often required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new technologies set successful candidates apart. These skills are crucial for delivering reliable code, collaborating effectively with teams, and adapting to evolving project requirements.

What types of projects and tasks can an Entry Developer typically expect to work on in their first year?

As an Entry Developer, you’ll often start by handling smaller, well-defined tasks such as fixing bugs, writing unit tests, or implementing simple features under the guidance of more experienced developers. You’ll likely participate in code reviews, attend daily stand-up meetings, and collaborate closely with team members to learn best practices and company coding standards. Over time, as you gain confidence and show proficiency, you may be given more complex assignments and opportunities to contribute to larger projects, setting a strong foundation for career growth.

Job description

Scribendi is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to build AI-driven products that empower researchers worldwide.

You will work across the full stack to deliver scalable, high-performance applications and help develop agentic AI systems and intelligent collaboration tools that accelerate scientific discovery.

Strong engineers come in many forms, and this role involves a high degree of ownership, ambiguity, and high standards. If you are motivated by purpose, excited by modern technology, and thrive in an environment that values autonomy and excellence, we would love to meet you.

Our mission is to use technology to accelerate research, improve collaboration, and advance scientific discovery worldwide. Our goal is to build tools that meaningfully improve the human experience.

This posting is for an existing vacancy. Please note that this role requires regular in-person meetings.

How You Work

  • Own the delivery of features end to end across the stack, working collaboratively while remaining accountable for outcomes.
  • Thrive in product and technical ambiguity, solving complex problems that require sound judgment and thoughtful system design.
  • Balance speed and quality, moving with urgency while maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Take on meaningful responsibility, actively seek feedback, and continuously grow your technical and professional skills.
  • Collaborate and communicate clearly with engineers, product, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective execution.
  • Build and scale forward-looking AI-driven platforms that support and accelerate scientific discovery.
  • Look for leverage by automating, abstracting, and improving systems so the team moves faster over time.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of full-stack production experience with modern web technologies such as React, Next.js, Node.js, PHP, or Python, and MySQL or Postgres (or similar technologies).
  • Solid understanding of architecture, scalability, and performance.
  • Experience integrating AI APIs and intelligent workflows into real applications.
  • Demonstrated initiative, with experience leading and delivering small to large projects end to end.
  • High ownership, high output, and strong attention to code quality.
  • Strong coding skills, with an emphasis on building understandable and maintainable software while collaborating effectively with others.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, evident in the quality of technical specifications, discourse, and feedback.
  • Curious, adaptable, and motivated to continuously improve.

Why Join Us

Our engineering culture is built on a simple belief: a small, talented team operating efficiently can build exceptional software without working 65-hour weeks.

We believe engineers do their best work when they have space to think, autonomy to make decisions, and clarity of purpose. We create an environment that supports focus, ownership, and a sustainable pace.

We do this through:

  • No micromanagement. Engineers own decisions and outcomes.
  • Natural collaboration and deliberate communication.
  • Investing in tools and abstractions that provide leverage.
