Job description

Title: Accounting Clerk/Accounting Assistant
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM
Pay rate: $19 - $22/hr
Temporary opportunity; 3-4 month long assignment
Description/Responsibilities:
The Accounting Assistant/Clerk performs routine accounting activities such as data entry, general
ledger maintenance, preparation of various accounting statements, and financial reports.
Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions, including billings, invoices, checks, and journal entries.

Essential Functions
1. Serve as clerical support for the accounting department
2. Assist with conducting routine data entry management for accounting records,
including accounts payable, billing, and accounts receivable
3. Assist with reviewing billing statements, invoices, and similar documents for accuracy;
alert supervisory staff of any discrepancies
4. Handle mail distribution, answering telephone calls from vendors, and other clerical
tasks as needed
5. Enter accounting data into the system
6. Assist with researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely fashion
7. Maintain the accounting department's soft and hard copy files
8. May assist with preparing financial reports and various accounting statements
9. May assist with submitting and processing direct deposit payments to the bank
10. Provide professional and courteous customer service to all employees
11. Assist with reconciling benefit bills monthly, bank statements, and other accounts
12. Assist with generating summary sheets to be used by managers

Accounting Assistant/Clerk Job Requirements:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in
    accounting/bookkeeping
  2. Previous experience which demonstrates numeracy and literacy skills
  3. Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  4. Familiarity with SCA and H&W
  5. Knowledge of government contracting practices is a plus
  6. Bookkeeping training preferred
  7. Previous experience with Deltek/CostPoint is a plus and would put you on higher end of pay range
  8. Experience using computerized payroll and accounting software is a plus
  9. Experience creating and using spreadsheets is a plus
  10. Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
    1. U.S. Citizen
    2. Valid U.S. Driver's License
