Harvard Resource Solutions/VENTEON is seeking a Sr. Accountant for our manufacturing client in Oak Park on a temporary basis. Could have potential to convert to direct hire for the right person.

Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Pay Range: $38.46hr- $48.00hr (Depending upon experience and education)
Position Summary
We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations. As a key partner to the Owner, you will manage the full accounting cycle from daily transactional tasks like AP, A/R and Purchase Orders to high-level month-end reporting. Responsible for managing the General Ledger through Financial Statement preparation. This is a "player-coach" role perfect for a professional who enjoys both the precision of bookkeeping and the strategic impact of financial analysis in a growing company.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Procurement
  • Invoice Management: Oversee the end-to-end AP process, including accurate data entry, coding, and digital filing of all vendor invoices.
  • Payment Processing: Schedule and execute weekly payment runs via check, ACH, or wire, ensuring all obligations are met on time.
  • Purchase Orders: Manage the PO system, matching orders with receiving documents and invoices to ensure internal controls and pricing accuracy.
  • Vendor Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries and statement reconciliations.

Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • General Ledger: Maintain a clean and accurate GL; perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts and credit cards.
  • P&L Ownership: Prepare and present monthly Profit and Loss statements, providing commentary on variances and trends to the Owner.
  • Balance Sheet Management: Prepare monthly Balance Sheets, ensuring all assets and liabilities are accurately supported and reconciled.
  • Cash Flow Monitoring: Track daily cash positions and provide short-term cash flow forecasts to support growth initiatives.

Compliance & Administration
  • Maintain organized financial records in compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist with annual tax preparation and any external audits or 1099 filings.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows as the company scales.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; prior experience in a small business or "department of one" environment is highly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of [QuickBooks] and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Expertise: Deep understanding of full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, and financial statement preparation.
