POSITION SUMMARY:

Tahoma Print and Manufacturing (TPM) is looking for a Fabrication/Paint Assistant to join our growing Team. This position would be a great opportunity for an entry to mid-level manufacturing technician, offering the opportunity to continue valuable on the job training in your career journey.  This position will support our growing manufacturing organization and give you the opportunity to help us build our business. The Fabrication/Paint Assistant supports general manufacturing, fabrication, painting, assembly, testing, and other aspects of production. Products may include but are not limited to industrial containers, manufactured homes, shops, signage, and other related products. What's most important is a strong aptitude and a great attitude!


TPM is focused on leveraging our existing assets to generate above-market returns for the Puyallup Tribe and our strategic partners. We are looking for highly motivated professionals who want to use and grow their technical, strategic, and analytical skills. This critical role will support our manufacturing division, as we continue to grow and diversify our business.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Excellent attendance
  • Assist with container modification and other structural work including layout and preparation for door, window, and equipment openings 
  • Assist with fitting and preparation of steel reinforcement frames and structural components
  • Assist with loading and unloading containers and materials using forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Work within schedules, budgets and quality requirements as assigned  
  • Operate welding, grinding, drills, saws, and other cutting equipment
  • Prep work for painting and operate spray painting and other support related equipment
  • Help maintain equipment to ensure it remains in excellent operating condition
  • Identify opportunities for improvements, identify potential areas of risk, and share information with key stakeholders to maximize results throughout TPM
  • Use all company resources efficiently to promote maximum financial results for TPM; maintain TPM equipment and assets to maximize return on investment
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships with all employees, vendors, business partners, government/regulatory entities, and communities in which we operate
  • Strictly follow workplace safety measures; safeguard the welfare of all employees, guests, visitors, and business partners at all times; promptly report workplace risks, incidents, injuries, and near misses 
  • Always maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive and proprietary business information and safeguard TPM assets

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum      

        High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid WA driver's license and good driving record
  • Aptitude to learn a comprehensive variety of hand/power tools and equipment 
  • Good math skills
  • Ability to problem solve, multi-task, and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Must be practical and results oriented
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to transport self over multi acre work site of varied terrain, climb in/out of equipment, and perform all physical elements of job tasks
  • Relates well to all people, diplomatic /gracious; builds good relationships without compromising results
  • Culturally sensitive and works well with the full diversity of our company and community
  • Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to pass Background Check   

Preferred      

  • Work experience in container modification or related industry
  • Experience using grinders, cutting tools, and fabrication equipment
  • Prior work experience with fabrication, manufacturing, welding, construction, or similar skills
  • Experience with painting and preparation
  • Basic knowledge of steel fabrication and layout
  • Forklift experience
