The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success. It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation. GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.
Role Purpose
The role supports plant operations by ensuring the timely procurement of quality materials in alignment with the manufacturing plan, while executing procurement strategies that assure supply and optimize total cost of ownership.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Execute tactical and technical procurement activities for assigned materials, equipment, and services, including supplier communication, purchase order processing, delivery monitoring, expediting, and billing issue resolution.
  • Submit and coordinate new vendor setup requests within the system.
  • Partner with Operations and Business Teams to execute key commodity strategies and support supply continuity.
  • Ensure compliance with Global Buying Policy while protecting Corning's intellectual property.
  • Manage supplier relationships and maintain key contractual documents, including supply agreements, pricing agreements, NDAs, and certificates of insurance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier relations, supporting supplier meetings, quality audits, and effective plant supply performance.
  • Track and communicate supplier performance metrics related to quality, cost, delivery, and lead time, while partnering with Quality, Warehouse, and Product Engineering to resolve rejected materials and support corrective actions.

Education and Experience- Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in production environment preferred in supply chain planning, production scheduling, materials planning, procurement, logistics, and/or operations
  • Experience communicating effectively, both written and verbal, throughout all internal levels of the organization and externally
  • Experience working in a matrix environment or within a cross functional team
  • Computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Desired Skills:
  • Degree in a Technical Field or Supply Chain/Business
  • Education, training or certification (CPSM,CPIM, etc.) in a supply chain function
  • Knowledge and understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems
  • Negotiation, purchasing or commodity experience
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge / familiarity with optical manufacturing fabrication and processes
  • Familiarity with optical glass specifications of quality
  • Basic optical principles in imaging systems

The range for this position is $69,318.00 - $95,313.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
