About the Position

The company is seeking an experienced Director of Electrical Engineering (Professional Engineer) to lead its engineering department from its Orlando-area headquarters.

This executive leadership role will oversee engineering operations, establish technical standards, mentor engineering staff, and provide strategic direction for electrical system design across a diverse portfolio of complex commercial projects.

Reporting to executive leadership, the Director of Electrical Engineering will collaborate closely with operations, preconstruction, project management, estimating, and field teams to deliver innovative, code-compliant, and cost-effective electrical design solutions while supporting the company's continued growth.

This opportunity is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys both technical leadership and mentoring the next generation of engineering professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Electrical Engineering department.
  • Lead the design and engineering of complex electrical building systems across multiple market sectors.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, quality assurance procedures, and best practices.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineering staff while fostering technical excellence.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support company growth initiatives and operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, project management, and field operations throughout project execution.
  • Review engineering calculations, specifications, construction documents, and design packages.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Support value engineering initiatives and innovative design solutions that improve project outcomes.
  • Serve as the engineering leader for major client relationships and technically challenging projects.

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience focused on commercial building systems design.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex design projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, lighting systems, emergency power, and commercial building infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting large commercial construction projects across one or more of the following markets:
    • Healthcare

    • High-Rise

  • Proficiency with:
