About Kanarey

Kanarey is a Los Angeles-based creative and marketing company specializing in games, anime, entertainment, and pop culture. We work with clients across the global gaming and entertainment industries, supporting PR, marketing strategy, events, content development, influencer initiatives, and creative campaigns.

We are currently looking for an Associate PR Manager Games & Entertainment to join our growing team and support PR initiatives for game and entertainment-related projects.

This role will begin as an independent contractor position with the potential to transition into a full-time employee role based on business needs, performance, and team fit.

Position Overview

The Associate PR Manager will work closely with our PR Manager and internal project teams to support day-to-day PR activities, media outreach, research, reporting, and client communications.

The ideal candidate has hands-on PR experience, strong writing and communication skills, and a genuine passion for games, anime, entertainment, and pop culture. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow within the gaming and entertainment PR space while working with a small, creative, and fast-moving team.

What Were Looking For

We are looking for someone who is proactive, curious, and excited about the entertainment space. The right candidate should enjoy following game and anime trends, understand how online communities talk about entertainment, and be comfortable turning that knowledge into strong PR support.

This role is a good fit for someone who is still growing in their PR career but is ready to take on more ownership, communicate directly with media and clients, and contribute to campaigns for exciting games and entertainment projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support PR campaigns for games, anime, entertainment, and pop culture-related projects
  • Assist with media outreach, pitch development, and follow-up communication
  • Build and maintain media lists for gaming, entertainment, anime, lifestyle, and pop culture outlets
  • Draft, edit, and proofread PR materials, including press releases, media alerts, pitch emails, briefing documents, and client-facing summaries
  • Track media coverage, prepare reports, and support PR performance reporting
  • Research media trends, industry news, gaming communities, creators, and relevant cultural moments
  • Coordinate with internal team members, clients, media contacts, and external partners
  • Support event-related PR activities, including media invitations, press coordination, and post-event reporting
  • Help organize PR assets, press kits, screenshots, trailers, key art, and other campaign materials
  • Contribute ideas for PR angles, media opportunities, creator outreach, and campaign strategy

Requirements

  • 23+ years of professional PR experience, preferably in games, entertainment, or anime.
  • Strong interest in games, anime, entertainment, and pop culture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience drafting PR materials, pitch emails, media lists, reports, or client-facing documents
  • Comfortable communicating with media, clients, and internal teams in a professional manner
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with a small team
  • Must be able to commute to our Torrance office 23 times per week
  • Must be based in the greater Los Angeles area or able to reliably work from the Torrance office as needed

Benefits

Compensation: $40$48/hour, depending on experience.

Candidates with direct games, anime, or entertainment PR experience, strong media relations experience, or Japanese/English bilingual skills may be considered at a higher rate.
