What you will do:

The Materials Specialist (Shipper) handles shipping (freight and parcel), loading and offloading trucks, processing orders for shipment, pulling orders, receiving trucks, packaging parts for shipment or stock as needed, part put away, cycle counting, working with scanners, while ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.

Some key responsibilities for Materials Specialists:

  • Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Accurately pull and prepare orders for shipment according to customer specifications
  • Prepare items for shipment, any needed packaging, labeling, including wrapping and weighing the pallet
  • Determine method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
  • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons
  • Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and rectify damages and shortages
  • Meet shipping deadlines by working required hours and be able to work any required overtime
  • Accuracy when counting parts, both incoming and outgoing
  • Combine like parts into locations
  • Operate a fork truck to lift, move or hoist shipping/receiving materials from the shipping/receiving area to storage or work area
