About the Role
Talent Vision is recruiting an English Language Learner Coordinator to join a public charter school in the Bronx, NY, for the 2026/2027 school year. The English Language Learner Coordinator will lead and support the school’s English language development program, ensuring multilingual learners receive effective, equitable, and culturally responsive instruction. This role will collaborate with teachers, school leaders, families, and community partners to identify student needs, monitor language acquisition, coordinate services, and strengthen instructional practices that promote academic success.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and oversee the school’s English language learner program in alignment with state and federal requirements, school policies, and best practices for multilingual learner education.
Support the identification, enrollment, assessment, placement, and ongoing monitoring of multilingual learners in accordance with applicable regulations and school procedures.
Administer and coordinate English language proficiency assessments, maintain accurate records, and communicate assessment results to relevant staff and families.
Develop, implement, and monitor language development plans and instructional supports that address students’ language proficiency levels, academic needs, and individual goals.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, intervention teams, and school leaders to provide differentiated instruction, scaffolds, accommodations, and other appropriate supports.
Provide direct English language development instruction through individual, small-group, or co-teaching models as needed.
Coach and support teachers in implementing evidence-based strategies for multilingual learners, including language objectives, academic vocabulary development, structured interaction, and culturally responsive instruction.
Use student performance and language proficiency data to identify needs, plan interventions, monitor progress, and adjust programming.
Facilitate professional development and collaborative planning focused on language acquisition, inclusive practices, family engagement, and access to grade-level content.
Communicate regularly with families and caregivers in a respectful, accessible, and culturally responsive manner regarding student progress, services, assessments, and available resources.
Coordinate interpretation and translation services when appropriate to promote meaningful family participation and understanding.
Participate in student support meetings, school improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary planning to advocate for the academic and social-emotional needs of multilingual learners.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation related to student eligibility, services, assessments, progress, and compliance requirements.
Stay current on research, instructional practices, and legal requirements related to English language learners and multilingual education.
Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, English as a Second Language, Education, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
Valid state certification or license in English as a Second Language, English to Speakers of Other Languages, bilingual education, or a related area preferred, but not required.
Minimum of 2–4 years of experience supporting or teaching English language learners in a school setting preferred.
Knowledge of language acquisition theory, multilingual learner instructional practices, culturally responsive teaching, and inclusive education.
Understanding of English language proficiency assessments, student identification procedures, progress monitoring, and applicable compliance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to use student data to inform instruction, identify interventions, and monitor language and academic growth.
Experience coaching teachers, facilitating professional development, or leading collaborative instructional planning preferred.
Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Fluency in a language other than English is an asset but not required.
Familiarity with student information systems, assessment platforms, and instructional technology.
Background check and clearance for working with youth required, where applicable.
