Position Summary

The Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Grant Writer to join

its Development team in Los Angeles. This position will compose grant applications for current

and potential funders and prospect for new funding opportunities to support the organization’s

fundraising goals. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent

writing, research, and analytical skills, as well as at least 3 years of experience composing and

securing foundation, corporate, and government grants. The Grant Writer will report directly to

ARC’s Grants and Contracts Manager and work closely with ARC’s program staff to develop

narratives for all of ARC’s programming.

Essential Duties

• Develop and draft clear, compelling concept papers, LOIs, and proposals outlining ARC’s

programs and services to secure funding from foundation, corporate, and government

sources.

• Research prospective funding sources and work with ARC’s Development team to identify

public and private funding opportunities.

• Collaborate with ARC leadership and program staff to develop a strong understanding of

ARC’s history, programs, impact, and financial needs in order to produce clear and

compelling proposals.

• Develop and update proposal and LOI templates for ARC’s programs and services that can

be easily adapted to specific funding opportunities.

• Maintain sufficient knowledge of ARC’s financials and organizational budget to support

accurate and effective grant writing.• Assist with administrative duties in ARC’s Development Department, including managing

the grant database and preparing grant acknowledgment letters.

• Assist with additional research, writing, and editing assignments, as needed.

• Maintain and update ARC’s programmatic boilerplate language.

• Work with ARC departments to gather data and information for use in grant proposals.

Qualifications

Required:

• Strong writing, research, analytical, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to

develop clear, compelling, and funder-aligned proposals, letters of inquiry, and other

grant-related materials.

• Experience with foundation, corporate, city, county, state, or federal grant applications,

including budgets, budget narratives, workplans, and required grant attachments.

• Ability to gather, compile, and analyze program data, research, community needs,

outcomes, financial information, logic models, performance measures, and other

materials needed to support accurate and persuasive grant applications.

• Strong attention to detail, including accuracy, grammar, formatting, consistency, and

compliance with funder requirements.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, fundraising CRM systems.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with program, finance, evaluation, and leadership teams

while managing multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising, grant cycles, funder stewardship, budgets, logic

models, and performance measures.

• Experience writing grants for nonprofit or human services programs, such as reentry,

workforce development, housing, behavioral health, youth development, education,

social justice, or related fields.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of the criminal justice and reentry field.

Education/Experience

• At least three years of professional experience in grant writing, proposal development,

grants administration, nonprofit development, or a related role.

• Experience developing or supporting grant applications, including budgets, budget

narratives, workplans, and required attachments.

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Creative Writing, Public Administration,

Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be

considered.

Hourly Rate: $36.05 - $40.86

Work Location

This position is based in Los Angeles and follows a hybrid work schedule, with one remote

workday per week and the possibility of up to two remote workdays based on organizational

needs and supervisor approval.
