Position Summary

Houston Christian University seeks Adjunct Professors to join the Department of English, Communication, Great Texts, and Modern Languages with the ability to teach in-person and online Rhetoric and Public Speaking classes that focus on an introduction to human communication and public speaking. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled. Adjunct needs change from semester to semester.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in accordance with the approved syllabus and institutional standards.
  • Maintain current subject knowledge and use effective teaching practices and technologies.
  • Communicate clearly and provide timely feedback and support to students.
  • Assess student learning and report progress promptly.
  • Maintain professionalism with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Submit grades and required documentation on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • MA or PhD in Communication Studies, Rhetorical Studies, or Speech Communication
  • Evidence of basic communication course teaching effectiveness
