What are Engineers In?

Engineers In refers to professionals who work within engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering. They use scientific and mathematical principles to design, develop, test, and maintain structures, systems, or products. Engineers play a vital role in solving technical problems and innovating solutions across various industries. Their work ensures safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in technology and infrastructure that society relies on.

What are some of the typical challenges engineers face when working on interdisciplinary teams?

Engineers working on interdisciplinary teams often encounter challenges related to communication and aligning goals with professionals from different backgrounds, such as designers, business analysts, or scientists. It's crucial to translate technical concepts into accessible language and to listen actively to ensure mutual understanding. Balancing varying project priorities, managing dependencies, and integrating diverse perspectives can be demanding but ultimately lead to more innovative and robust solutions. Developing strong collaboration and problem-solving skills is key to overcoming these challenges and achieving project success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Engineer, you need strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and a relevant engineering degree (such as in mechanical, electrical, civil, or software engineering). Familiarity with industry-specific software tools (like AutoCAD, MATLAB, or SolidWorks) and certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) licensure are commonly required. Excellent teamwork, communication, and adaptability help engineers effectively collaborate on projects and innovate solutions. These skills and qualifications are crucial for designing, building, and maintaining systems that meet safety, efficiency, and quality standards.

Our resume pool brings together experienced Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET) who are passionate about building impactful solutions, collaborating with high-performing teams, and delivering service excellence. At Dewpoint, technology is personal-we foster a culture rooted in innovation, accountability, and mutual respect, where every team member is both a contributor and a stakeholder in our shared success. This submission is not associated with an immediate job opening; rather, it allows us to proactively connect with accomplished developers whose skills and values align with Dewpoint and to reach out as future opportunities arise. Please see a summary and list of preferred experience below. If you value collaboration, continuous learning, and working alongside professionals who care deeply about their craft, clients, and community, you'll feel right at home at Dewpoint.
Summary
We are seeking forward-thinking SDETs to help modernize and lead our test automation strategy. This role will focus on building and maintaining scalable, maintainable, and integrated test automation frameworks across UI and API layers using modern tools like Playwright and TypeScript, while also contributing to CI/CD testing integration. The SDET will also play a key role in supporting manual testing efforts within Agile feature teams-guiding test case design, exploratory testing, and quality validation for areas not yet automated. This position is critical to enabling feature teams to take ownership of both automated and manual testing, ensuring faster, higher-quality releases.
Preferred Experience
  • Hands on experience with Playwright (TypeScript preferred) or similar frameworks like Cypress
  • Migration experience from selenium + Java or Postman to modern frameworks
  • Familiarity with test reporting, dashboarding, and quality metrics in DevOps environment
  • Experience with test case management tools (e.g., qTest, QMetry, TestRail) and requirements traceability
