JDRF Electromag Engineering Inc. is a research-intensive product development company located in Port Credit, Mississauga, Ontario. Our mission is to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by making advanced smart lighting affordable and accessible for commercial buildings. We develop smart lighting technology that combines machine learning, edge computing, and data fusion to transform how commercial lighting systems are designed, commissioned, operated, and maintained.

Role Overview

This role is responsible for leading manufacturing engineering and production quality activities across outsourced manufacturing partners. The focus is on supplier quality, process validation, engineering change control, product lifecycle management, and continuous improvement to ensure high-quality, scalable, and reliable production.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Engineering

  • Define and enforce quality standards across outsourced manufacturing partners
  • Lead supplier process qualification, validation, and ongoing production quality control
  • Review and approve manufacturing processes, work instructions, test fixtures, inspection criteria, and in-process quality controls
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions for supplier quality issues
  • Track supplier performance and improve KPIs including yield, defects, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery

Configuration and Change Management

  • Own execution of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) with suppliers
  • Ensure engineering revisions are correctly implemented and verified at the supplier level
  • Maintain revision control across BOMs, drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation
  • Prevent unauthorized changes, substitutions, or uncontrolled process updates

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Manage product data, revisions, releases, and manufacturing documentation within PLM systems
  • Ensure controlled and structured release of engineering data to manufacturing partners
  • Maintain traceability of changes across development, NPI, production, and sustaining phases
  • Align PLM records with BOMs, supplier documentation, and production builds

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Customer Support, and external manufacturers
  • Act as the primary escalation point for supplier manufacturing, quality, and delivery issues
  • Support NPI, production ramp-up, and sustaining production activities
  • Ensure alignment between manufacturing execution and engineering intent

Risk, Cost, and Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and mitigate manufacturing, supplier, and supply chain risks
  • Support cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and reliability
  • Drive continuous improvement in yield, efficiency, documentation quality, and supplier execution

Requirements

Must-Have Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or related field)
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing environments
  • Strong background in quality engineering and/or process engineering
  • Experience in at least two of the following: PCB assembly, electronics manufacturing, plastic injection molding, metal fabrication or mechanical manufacturing

Configuration and Change Management

  • Hands-on experience with ECOs, ECNs, BOM management, and revision control

Systems Experience

  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
  • Experience with ERP systems (MS Business Central, Dynamics, or similar)

Nice to Have

  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
  • High-mix, low-volume manufacturing experience
  • NPI and product ramp-up experience in hardware environments
