(NYSE: ITW) is a Fortune 200 global industrial company centered on a differentiated business model.  The company’s seven business segments leverage the 80/20 business model to generate solid growth, best-in-class margins and favorable returns in markets where innovative, customer-focused solutions are required.  ITW delivers specialized expertise, innovative thinking and value-added products to meet critical customer needs in a variety of industries targeting sustainable and profitable organic growth.  The Sexton business is a market leader in the manufacture of high-pressure aerosol cans and is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for its Decatur, AL facility, located 30 minutes Southwest of the Huntsville area.

The Manufacturing Engineer will design, develop, and maintain systems that integrate electrical and mechanical components. This role supports production, quality, product development, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives by applying engineering principles to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, develop, repair, and test electromechanical systems, components, and equipment
  • Integrate electrical controls with mechanical systems (motors, sensors, actuators)
  • Create and review engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automated equipment and machinery
  • Support manufacturing processes, including installation, commissioning, and maintenance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, R&D) to improve product performance
  • Develop and implement control systems using PLCs and automation tools
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical, manufacturing, or automation engineering (adjust based on level)
  • 3+ years of experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems design and improvements
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and control panels
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming and industrial automation preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

Work Performed/Requirements:

  • Keep the work area clean.
  • Always wear standard personal protective equipment (PPE). (Earplugs, safety glasses, high vis, steel toed shoes and additional items as required by position/task).
  • Work as a team member with other employees.
  • Support problem solving, root cause analysis, and related process improvement activities.
  • Uphold 5-S principles.

Additional Information:

Employees may be exposed to Class A coatings and paints, Class B solvents and alcohols, Class C chemicals, Class E Leads and Alloys (alkaline batteries), Class F Cleaning supplies, Class H miscellaneous production items which may contain coatings or chemicals, and Class J Lubricants which may cause skin irritation.  Additionally, Class I tin plate steel is used in the manufacturing process. Employees work in an environment in which hearing and eye protection is required.  Furthermore, Employees will be required to lift boxes, tooling, and other objects. The work environment is consistent with other heavy manufacturing environments.  Therefore, proper precautions and care should be taken. Employees are required to work with team members to support the entire line. Employees are expected to work overtime as required. If a quality issue exists with a label, QA must be notified immediately.
