Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer Consultant
Work Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer Consultant to provide technical expertise, project oversight, and client support for a variety of geotechnical engineering projects. This role will support engineering analysis, field investigations, laboratory coordination, and reporting while ensuring projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in geotechnical engineering, experience managing projects, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Perform and oversee geotechnical engineering analysis, field explorations, and laboratory testing programs.
  • Review and interpret subsurface investigation data, including soil and rock properties.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, recommendations, and technical documentation.
  • Provide foundation design recommendations, slope stability analysis, earthwork evaluation, and pavement design support.
  • Ensure projects adhere to applicable standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Conduct senior-level technical reviews to ensure accuracy and quality control.
  • Provide construction-phase support, including observation, testing oversight, and issue resolution.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with engineers, geologists, technicians, subcontractors, and laboratories.
  • Prepare written proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
  • Track project progress to ensure on-time and within-budget completion.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Serve as a technical liaison to clients, addressing engineering concerns and providing solutions.
  • Assist with business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client meetings.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business.
  • Support projects involving GDOT or other state/federal agencies (preferred).

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required (Georgia registration preferred).
  • 5-10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Experience with GDOT projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, field investigations, and laboratory testing procedures.
  • Experience in preparing technical reports and engineering recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with Department of Transportation (DOT), federal, or municipal projects.
  • Familiarity with slope stability, deep and shallow foundations, retaining walls, and embankment design.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
