The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Technician for our Silver Springs, Nevada location. In this role, you will support a multidisciplinary team responsible for designing, manufacturing, and testing innovative automotive solutions. Our extensive database of worldwide operational and infrastructure conditions enables us to accurately define user duty cycles and develop test programs that closely replicate real-world service environments.

NATC is recognized as an industry leader in transforming real-world conditions into validated virtual proving ground simulations and advanced virtual prototyping solutions. Located in the Great Basin of Nevada, NATC offers access to terrain that represents approximately 85% of the world's environmental conditions within a 150-mile radius. This unique capability allows our team to deliver exceptional solutions to customers across a wide range of industries. POSITION SUMMARY : Assist in the design, development, fabrication, modification, and testing of ground vehicles and related equipment. Create, maintain, and apply technical documentation to support vehicle engineering and test programs.

Develop and utilize 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, work orders, specifications, and sketches to support the fabrication, repair, modification, and installation of components and systems. Support the development of new vehicle concepts and associated engineering analyses. Conduct automotive testing activities, including test plan development, instrumentation setup, test execution, data collection and analysis, and the preparation of final reports and other technical documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Test drive vehicles in support of engineering tests or for the purpose of systems diagnosis and assessing vehicle performance. Ensures maintenance, fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting actions are performed in accordance with test directives or engineering design. Coordinate with test, engineering, and maintenance personnel to ensure required actions are being performed on schedule and records of same are maintained accordingly.

Interprets technical manuals, design specifications, drawings, etc. Assist engineers in creating automotive design concepts, drawings, parts lists, and other technical documentation. Computer Aided Design (CAD) and schematic capture drawing experience is a plus.

Develop repairs and modifications of vehicles and equipment in accordance with test directives or engineering instructions. Communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and suppliers. Work with engineering, technicians, management, and customers in recommending design enhancements and productivity improvements.

Supervise and conduct the inspection and measurement of vehicles and components in accordance with test directives or engineering instruction. Other duties as assigned. Secondary Functions: Perform tests in the field in extreme temperature and/or environmental conditions.

Identifies when customer requirements or drawings are not suitable to standard practices and suggests a reasonable solution to achieve the desired outcome. Operate company vehicles in support of test and engineering operations. Assist maintenance and fabrication shops with maintenance, modification, and payloading of vehicles.
