Position Description:
We are looking for a Construction Engineer with MDOT experience to join the construction team in our Taylor office. Candidates must have a Bachelors in Civil or Construction Engineering, PE license, and five to ten years of experience.
Typical Responsibilities:
  • Interpret project plans and specifications
  • Review design plans and documents for constructability
  • Monitor construction activities and resolve field issues
  • Maintain project files and record drawings
  • Provide inspectors and field with guidance and field files on project-specific tasks
  • Facilitate on-site observations, inspections, and material testing as needed
  • Complete contract change orders and field bulletins
  • Track and assist the Design Engineer in shop drawing review
  • Review and respond to contractor claims, requests for information, and field issues
  • Develop and complete applications, permits, engineering reports, and specifications
  • Review and approve payment applications
  • Prepare and review engineer estimates
  • Monitor task budget, progress, and promote sales
  • Prepare project status and other reports
  • Communicate project details with the owner, contractors, inspectors, and other engineers
  • Conduct cost reviews and perform research and development for projects
  • Review scope, budget and schedule of new jobs
  • Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports, and technical presentations
  • Attend and/or conduct various meetings including client, project, pre-design, pre-construction, professional organization, staff, seminars, and/or training classes, etc.
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Maintain a safe working environment

Education:
  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering
  • PE license

Skills:
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal construction standards and procedures
  • This individual must have strong interpersonal and management skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
