Location: South Carolina (Must reside in the state or be willing to relocate).


Travel Requirements: 50% or less, with most travel being day trips within a few hours. Some overnight stays may be necessary. The company covers all travel expenses and provides a truck and all necessary gear for inspections. There may also be travel to Virginia where Mid-Atlantic is headquartered. Once a team is built there will be less travel requirements for this role.


At Mid-Atlantic Engineering, we are expanding our presence South Carolina, and we need a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and strengthen client relationships. This is your opportunity to play a key role in growing a regional office while working on impactful infrastructure projects.


What You'll Do:
  • Lead and manage bridge design, rehabilitation, and analysis projects.
  • Perform and oversee structural assessments and inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Serve as a technical expert and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
  • Work closely with DOTs, municipalities, and contractors to develop and implement solutions.
  • Oversee construction support, review shop drawings, and respond to RFIs.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • 7+ years of experience in bridge engineering, with a strong background in design, analysis, and/or inspection.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO standards and DOT regulations.
  • Experience with bridge design software (SAP2000, MIDAS Civil, LARSA 4D, AutoCAD).
  • Leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to manage a team.
  • Ability to travel for fieldwork and client meetings (company-provided vehicle and expenses covered).
