Job description

Eaton’s Power System Division has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer at its Olean, NY facility.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year.

What you’ll do:

The position of Quality Engineer requires the ability to work and understand all aspects of the manufacturing process. The QE requires input from the bid review/order entry process, supplier oversight, production planning, parts procurement, manufacturing and test, final acceptance, software analysis, and corrective action analysis, and customer support.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and direct activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards and systems for processing materials into product.
  • Develop and initiate methods and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Interface with suppliers and external customers to resolve product issues.
  • Devise procedures, forms, methods for recording and evaluating quality data.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures to disposition and assess cost of discrepant material.
  • Provide quality technical assistance to internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Work with employees engaged in measuring and testing product and recording quality and reliability data.
  • Compile and generate training material and conduct training sessions on quality activities.
  • Conduct Supplier control activities including purchase order review, resolution of non-conforming products from suppliers, and review of corrective action responses from suppliers.
  • Perform Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including scrap material processing.
  • Coordinate and manage continuous improvement activities related to Quality including 8D’s, Kaizen events, BPI’s, Six Sigma projects, and other problem-solving activities.
  • Participate in internal and external control and review activities such as internal audits & product audits including customer reviews.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Competencies:

  • Ability to understand technical data
  • Knowledge of measurement systems
  • Understanding of statistics and root cause analysis
Basic Qualification (Required):
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or technical role.
  • Relocation benefits are being offered for this position. Candidates that currently reside or are willing to relocate within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Olean, NY will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum 5 years of product, application, and Quality Assurance concepts knowledge gained through combined experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality functions.
