Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the operational leadership, supervision, and day-to-day management of the Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit (ACSU) and Children's Crisis Stabilization Unit (CCSU), while supporting staffing ratio oversight and training coordination for the East Recovery Unit. Oversees direct-care staff and associated support roles to ensure consumer care is delivered at the highest standard while maintaining program integrity, safety, therapeutic structure, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness. Responsible for staffing, scheduling, employee performance management, training, program readiness, supply oversight, interdepartmental coordination, and crisis response support. Provides on-call leadership support and staffing coordination outside normal business hours as needed to ensure safe program operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: Strong leadership, verbal and written communication, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively represent the program and agency in professional and community settings while building collaborative relationships with consumers, families, referral sources, community partners, and interdisciplinary team members. Ability to manage high-stress and crisis situations, provide effective staff supervision, maintain accountability, and ensure consistent implementation of agency expectations, policies, and program standards. Proficiency with MS 365 and electronic documentation systems preferred.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Considerable walking, standing, and participation in program oversight and crisis response activities. Frequent hearing and talking required to communicate with consumers, guardians, professionals, staff, and community partners. Manual dexterity for written and electronic documentation. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens, biohazardous waste, and communicable diseases during day-to-day contact with consumers. Ability to stoop, kneel, and utilize Safe Crisis Management (SCM) techniques as needed. Sufficient physical strength required. Must have visual acuity, accurate depth perception, and physical and mental dexterity sufficient to safely transport consumers if required.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/TASKS/RESPONSIBILIITES:
1. Provide direct operational leadership and day-to-day oversight of ACSU and CCSU.
2. Ensure safe staffing ratios, training coordination, and operational support needs for the East Recovery Unit as assigned.
3. Directly supervise crisis program staff, including scheduling, attendance management, performance monitoring, coaching, corrective action, evaluations, and overall day-to-day employee oversight.
4. Develop and maintain staff schedules while ensuring appropriate coverage and safe staffing levels.
5. Coordinate staffing coverage for call-offs and provide direct coverage support when necessary to maintain safe operations and minimize unnecessary overtime.
6. Maintain on-call leadership availability outside normal business hours as needed for staffing and operational support.
7. Oversee onboarding, orientation, staff development, competency validation, and ongoing performance support.
8. Maintain Safe Crisis Management (SCM) Instructor certification and ensure staff receive appropriate crisis intervention and safety training.
9. Maintain medication management training competency and ensure relevant staff maintain required certifications.
10. Ensure a safe, structured, therapeutic, and regulatory-compliant treatment environment.
11. Monitor program integrity, consumer rights, safety practices, and adherence to agency policies, procedures, and program expectations.
12. Coordinate with nursing staff, prescribers, therapists, and other treatment team members regarding resident needs and operational support.
13. Support crisis response, de-escalation, and operational problem-solving as needed.
14. Ensure unit readiness, including hygiene supplies, dietary needs, office supplies, programming materials, safety equipment, and other operational necessities.
15. Coordinate with internal departments including HR, IT, Maintenance, Nursing, Leadership, and other support services.
16. Monitor documentation practices and ensure compliance with agency, regulatory, and program standards.
17. Assist with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, retention, and culture-building efforts.
18. Complete employee performance evaluations, approve time-off requests, and address attendance or performance concerns.
19. Participate in quality improvement efforts, incident review, program development, and operational planning.
20. Support collaboration with referral sources, community partners, and leadership to strengthen program effectiveness.
21. Assist with development and implementation of unit programming, structure, and operational processes.
22. Ensure emergency preparedness and appropriate response for crisis situations.
23. Crosstrain to support related crisis or residential operational needs as appropriate.
24. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in behavioral health, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Nursing, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree expectations, with candidates expected to demonstrate experience and competency comparable to Senior Specialist - Crisis expectations.
High school diploma or equivalent and 21 years of age or older required. Minimum of two (3) years of relevant experience in mental health, behavioral health, residential treatment, crisis services, working with children/adolescents, or a related field required.
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in mental health, behavioral health, residential treatment, crisis services, or a related field required, including demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or advanced operational experience.
Candidates should additionally demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience through one or more of the following:
1. Current or ability to obtain Safe Crisis Management (SCM) Instructor certification.
2. Additional relevant training in Trauma-Informed Care, de-escalation techniques, medication administration, behavioral management, crisis intervention, supervision, or program leadership.
3. Prior supervisory, leadership, scheduling, staffing, or program management experience.
4. Experience coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, community partners, and operational support departments.
5. Must pass all required background checks
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Adheres to all policies and procedures of Inlet Health and subsidiaries.
2. Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.
