Hunt, Guillot & Associates (HGA) is seeking a Public Works Civil Engineer to support operations in Ruston, Louisiana. This position is responsible for leading and delivering civil engineering design services for public works and roadway projects while supporting clients through all phases of project development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the civil technical components of public works and roadway projects.
- Serve as Lead Engineer on assigned projects, coordinating design activities including calculations, drawings, and field investigations.
- Evaluate project requirements and define scope of work, budgets, schedules, and staffing needs.
- Prepare, review, and verify technical calculations and design drawings for accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Develop and review construction cost estimates based on project scope and engineering judgment.
- Maintain clear communication with clients, internal engineering teams, and design staff to ensure schedule adherence and budget control.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in civil design, with emphasis on public works and roadway projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering practices, design standards, codes, procedures, and specifications.
- Proven ability to generate civil engineering calculations and support design and construction activities.
- Demonstrated strengths in engineering leadership, communication, client relations, and team management.
- Ability to perform site visits and field investigations at active project and construction sites.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Windows applications is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD 3D or similar civil design software.
- Resides within daily commuting distance of Ruston, Louisiana.
