This position requires the ability to lead and manage mechanical design engineering projects and teams while designing automated heavy industrial equipment in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will leverage strong technical expertise, leadership, and industry knowledge to drive innovative design solutions that improve operational efficiency, equipment performance, and project execution. Position Status: Existing vacancy Salary: $150,000 to $165,000 based on Experience Location: Mississauga, ON Job Type: Full-Time                                                                                                   Benefits of joining our team: * Competitive compensation and benefits (dental care, vision care, extended health care) * RRSP match program- matching up to 2% after 3 months * 2 weeks of paid vacation for this role.   Key Responsibilities: * Generate & maintain the CAD drawings and Inventor 3D models required to manufacture Coil Processing Equipment * Provide support to manufacturing for the construction of new Coil Processing systems or the refurbishment of used Coil Feed Lines * Produce assembly and detail drawings for production and BOM's using 3D modeling * Lead and mentor a team of smart and dynamic junior and intermediate engineers * Managed multiple projects for the introduction of new product models. This includes the management of product design and the creation of product documentation * Create, edit and maintain Engineering & Manufacturing database and manuals * Understanding of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, actuators, and all mechanical components and design of a coil feed line including Uncoiler’s, Straighteners and Electronic Roll Feeders * Perform engineering calculations for the products for determining the strength of components including structural design, roll plastic deformation, welded connections, component sizing, deflections, factors of safety, etc. * Participate in product development meetings with management and manufacturing to exchange ideas * Perform or assist in product tests including tests for load, pressure, fatigue, and deflection * Work cross-functionally with different teams and organizations   Ideal Candidate Profile Education: * College / University; Mechanical Engineering Experience: * 7+ years experience in designing automated heavy industrial equipment * Minimum of 4 years in a supervisory capacity * Mechanical Engineering Technologist experience/background * Experience with machining and fabrication processes with different materials including AHSS/HSLA, Aluminum, Galvannealed steels * Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics * Ability to read and understand designs and schematics * Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills * Ability to work to tight deadlines, multi-task, organize, and prioritize work Software Application Knowledge: * Practical experience with AutoCAD and Inventor * Extensive working experience with FEA using software * Familiarity with Engineering Change Management processes (ECR,ECO,ECN)   Colt Automation was incorporated in 1965 as an equipment manufacturer supplying Coil Feed Line solutions for coil processing to the manufacturing industry.
