Manager - Manufacturing Equipment Engineering, Americas

The Manager of Manufacturing Equipment Engineering (Americas) is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving scalable, reliable, and compliant manufacturing equipment and infrastructure across the global production network. The role ensures that equipment systems enable stable, efficient, and high-quality production by defining architecture, driving innovation, and managing the full equipment lifecycle.

What You'll Do
  • Own the design and implementation of manufacturing equipment, testing systems, and supporting infrastructure across the global production network
  • Define and govern equipment architectures, platforms, and design standards, ensuring scalability, modularity, and reusability across regions
  • Lead the end-to-end equipment lifecycle, including concept development, design, realization, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), deployment, and lifecycle support
  • Define and drive the technology and equipment roadmap, including automation, digitalization, and innovation of manufacturing systems
  • Define and govern requirements for equipment systems, including functional, performance, safety, maintenance, and data integration aspects
  • Ensure seamless integration of equipment into manufacturing processes, including alignment with Manufacturing Excellence (process design) and Product Industrialization (requirements)
  • Define and implement equipment concepts and solutions, ensuring optimal balance between performance, cost, flexibility, and maintainability
  • Govern CAPEX planning and execution for equipment investments, ensuring cost transparency and efficient resource allocation
  • Ensure robustness, stability, and reliability of equipment systems, including uptime, performance, and long-term maintainability
  • Define and implement maintenance concepts, spare parts strategies, and lifecycle support models in close collaboration with Operations and Maintenance
  • Ensure equipment is designed for maintainability and enable maintenance teams to sustainably operate, support, and stabilize equipment throughout its lifecycle
  • Ensure compliance of equipment systems with regulatory, safety, and technical standards, including risk assessments and documentation
  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement of equipment performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Establish and govern methods, frameworks, and standards for equipment engineering and lifecycle management, ensuring scalable and structured execution
  • Drive technology scouting, supplier development, and capability buildup for manufacturing equipment and engineering partners
  • Define and implement training concepts and capability development for maintenance teams and technical functions
  • Collaborate closely within Manufacturing Engineering and actively contribute to cross-functional ME initiatives, projects and continuous improvement activities
  • Act as the central interface for equipment topics between Manufacturing Excellence, Product Industrialization, Maintenance team, IT, and external partners
  • Lead and develop the Manufacturing Equipment Engineering organization (Lead Equipment) and contribute to the Manufacturing Engineering roadmap
Who You Are
  • Master or Bachelor of Science in process engineering, mechanical engineering, production engineering, or similar
  • Additional education in leadership or management is an advantage
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment engineering, including development of electro-mechanical systems and control/software solutions, in production environments
  • Proven experience in leadership roles with organizational and change responsibility
  • Experience in lean management, Six Sigma, process modeling (e.g., BPMN) and simulation tools is an advantage
  • Experience with Industry 4.0, automation and digitalization of manufacturing systems
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end value chains including R&D and supply chain integration
  • Strong digital and IT affinity (e.g., ERP systems such as SAP, engineering, project, and collaboration tools)
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally (approximately 20%)

The base pay for this position ranges from $120,000 - $135,000 annually with a target performance bonus of 15% of an employee’s annual base salary. Compensation is based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience.
