Pratt & Whitney's Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) is seeking a Military Composites Manager, supporting all military engine programs, including Operational Military Engines (OME). F119, F135, Military Development Programs, and Advanced Engine Programs (AEP). In this role, you will lead a multi-tier, multi-disciplinary team of composites engineers supporting delivery, producibility and technology development of Pratt and Whitney's commercial hardware as well as providing technical leadership and staff planning to ensure program delivery milestones are met. You will lead and develop staff while ensuring your team's adherence to P&W's quality and engineering procedures. You will integrate with CIPT, including Quality, Operations, suppliers and other engineering disciplines to ensure technical requirements are met.
What You Will Do
  • Ensure engineering team is fully engaged, supporting delivery, producibility and technology development metrics, and technical issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication within CIPT's to align staffing needs with program objectives and provide part family technical leadership and planning, including collaboration across CSE sites.
  • Driving and nurturing improvements in quality and delivery performance in support of program requirements.
  • Engaging internal and external hardware suppliers to investigate quality or delivery issues and develop robust improvement plans.
  • Mentorship of staff on individual development programs and goals, including training and development tasks to raise overall discipline health within the organization.
  • Guiding and supporting overall organizational goals identified in Policy Deployment.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering and 12+ years of engineering experience OR
  • Advanced degree in Engineering and 10+ years of engineering experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
    U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Composite Finite Element Analysis (FEA) - Laminated shell modeling, solid modeling, and/or ply-by-ply solid modeling
  • Composite Design - Experience with Composite Manufacturing techniques, such as Resin Transfer Molding, Compression Molding, Injection Molding, and/or Autoclave Molding
  • Composite Hardware Validation - Allowables generation, test methods, instrumentation
  • Composite Hardware Manufacturing - Available methods and current state of the art, engagement with PW suppliers
  • Prior experience as design or structures lead of composite hardware
  • Prior leadership experience with the proven ability to lead a multitude of cross-functional teams to achieve results.
  • Ability to craft clear communication and develop meaningful relationships.

Compression Systems Engineering (CSE)
Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products.
Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
