Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Engineering Manager to join our team. The Distribution Engineering Manager is primarily responsible for managing the supervisors and staff of technical designers and engineers responsible for development of engineering designs, design cost estimates, and communication of technical and design information to our customers. The manager evaluates the performance of assigned technical staff and proactively initiates measures to correct instances of work product not meeting established quality standards. The Distribution Engineering Manager ensures compliance with client procedures, design standards, state and federal regulatory requirements and safety code requirements and, at times, will collaborate closely with engineers performing distribution, substation, transmission, renewable energy, power storage, and communication design. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage engineering teams across Avangrid, providing direction, support, and QA/QC.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, improvement, collaboration and inclusivity encouraging innovation, teamwork, and quality.
• Oversee the execution and delivery of departmental goals.
• Develop and implement individual and departmental corrective actions that align with organizational goals and objectives.
• Identify opportunities for departmental improvements, innovation, and process improvements within the engineering teams
• Oversee technical guidance and support that is being given to engineering teams, ensuring appropriate departmental growth.
• Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development needs for all team members.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, effectively communicating project status, risks, and technical insights.
• Collaborate with cross-disciple department managers to align efforts with business goals.
• Review and manage budgets for engineering projects ensuring optimal resource allocation.
• Able to accurately QA/QC engineer/technician designs for competency and standard adherence
• Able to assess current project load and resource utilization to assemble a resource plan for hiring needs.
• Able to contribute to company growth and business development by identifying opportunities to expand operational presence within assigned regions to further support overall business goals
• Able to work directly with clients to assess needs and determine solutions
Required Skills:
• 8 to 10-yrs experience w/ B.S in an Engineering Discipline from an ABET accredited university OR 7-8yrs experience w/ M.S in an Engineering Discipline.-
• 4+ yrs of Supervisory Experience
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SAP, ACRFM, and all Avangrid Systems and Standards.
• Professional disposition and the ability to be open-minded when it comes to planning and execution of projects being worked by staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of overhead & underground Distribution facilities and understanding of its integration into daily activities.
  • Experience with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and other industry-relevant standards
  • Proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project)

Required Experience:
  • This is a manager level position requiring 8 to 10+ years of experience in Power Distribution Design.

Preferred Experience:
• EIT with the ability to become registered PECYME
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Experience leading an engineering team, demonstrating proficiency in resource management and delegation of engineering tasks.
  • Experience providing technical direction for a department/organization in field of expertise.
