POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Engineering Supervisor supports the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department and assists with maintaining all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems in a safe, efficient, and guest-focused manner. This role is a hands-on leadership position, shift responsible for supervising engineering associates, coordinating maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with brand standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

This position requires flexibility, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced, 24/7 hotel environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform and supervise preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life-safety systems.

  • Conduct routine inspections of guestrooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to identify maintenance needs and ensure brand standards are met.

  • Respond to maintenance service requests in a timely and professional manner to minimize disruption to hotel operations and guest experience.

  • Assist with special projects, renovations, and capital improvements as assigned.

  • Ensure all preventive maintenance programs are followed and updated as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to building systems, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Complete required inspections, testing, and documentation for life-safety systems, including fire alarms, generators, sprinklers, and emergency systems.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and participate in fire drills and emergency response procedures.

  • Maintain proper lock and key control and ensure building security standards are upheld.

  • Report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, and non-compliance issues promptly to engineering leadership.

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of engineering associates during assigned shifts.

  • Assign daily work orders and ensure tasks are completed according to standards and timelines.

  • Assist with training, coaching, scheduling, and performance feedback for engineering team members.

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and adherence to Marriott and company service culture.

  • Step in to perform hands-on maintenance duties as needed to support the team and operations.

  • Help maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.

  • Assist with ordering parts and materials while supporting cost-control initiatives.

  • Maintain control over storage areas, tools, and department equipment.

  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers for services, estimates, and repairs as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding maintenance priorities and operational issues.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and work orders using brand-required systems.

  • Interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner when addressing maintenance concerns, reinforcing Delta Hotels' service standards.

  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency, equipment reliability, and energy usage.

  • Escalate significant maintenance issues and recommend corrective actions or capital needs when appropriate.

  • Assist in budgeting, long-range planning, and capital expenditure discussions as requested by leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Technical, trade, or vocational training preferred.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in building maintenance or engineering; hotel experience preferred.

  • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, associates, and leadership.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, stand, walk, and perform physical maintenance tasks.

  • Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.
