Job description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Clinical Intern, where you will gain hands-on experience under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This entry-level role is perfect for nursing students or recent graduates who are eager to develop their clinical skills and contribute to patient care.
General Summary
As a Clinical Intern, you will assist in the treatment and care of patients, adapting your approach to their age and developmental needs. Your responsibilities will include supporting patients with daily living activities such as hygiene, skin care, mobility, and nutrition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, and skin care while taking precautions to prevent skin breakdown.
  • Assist with physical activities such as repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfers.
  • Support nutritional needs by preparing patients for meals, assisting with feeding, monitoring intake, and adhering to dietary restrictions.
  • Collect specimens, perform vital signs, and document intake and output accurately.
  • Perform specialized care such as sit baths, postmortem care, application of compression devices, and wound management.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and foster teamwork.
  • Carry out technical nursing procedures within credentialed scope, including oxygen therapy, catheter insertion/removal, intravenous therapy discontinuation, suctioning, dressing changes, injections, and NG tube maintenance.
  • Educate patients and families in collaboration with the primary nurse.
  • Maintain clear communication with the primary nurse and promptly report any changes in patient condition or concerns.
  • Document all patient care activities thoroughly and accurately in medical records.

Education
Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed nursing education but not yet licensed.
Experience
This is an entry-level position; no prior experience is required.
