Job description

DESIGN ENGINEER I

What you will experience in this position:

In this position, you may:

  • Support the design of new and/or existing systems.
  • Apply engineering techniques to design at the lowest overall cost and enhance value to the customer by either project, product and/or value design and engineering.
  • Provide engineering design and analysis within assigned project scope of work. This may include layouts, specification development, and engineering drawings and systems.ย  Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control for the engineering scope of work.
  • Develop resolution of problems of limited scope following standard procedures.
  • Use advanced software such as NavisWorks, AutoCAD and our in-house programs TRACERLYNX and PROMAN NEXT to optimize our design process.ย 
  • Perform various engineering and design tasks within our innovative paperless workflow process.ย ย 
  • Proactively establish customer relationships at appropriate levels and manage client expectations relative to technical execution methodologies, scope, schedule, progress, and technical change management.ย 
  • Contribute toward the team environment and shared culture of Chemelex.
  • Apply basic knowledge of standard processes and systems.
  • Frequently be expected to choose the most appropriate solution.
  • Exhibit basic understanding of customer priorities.

You have:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in Engineering, Science, or related fields.
  • Possess solid time management skills.
  • Under general supervision; ability to exercise judgment; receives clear instructions from supervisor on what to do and how to do it.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present and influence views in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Previous EHT, power design, and/or field engineering experience is an asset, but not required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MS Suites and SAP an asset.
  • Ability to travel to worksites up to 25% for field engineering
