Since our inception in 2010, we have established strong working relationships with a variety of clients in the industry including government agencies, railroads, developers, architects, contractors, and engineers. The RIC team is comprised of 26 licensed professionals with over 300 years combined experience, who are supported by a committed and talented group of over 45 technical and administrative staff.

About the role

RIC is currently seeking Civil Design Engineers who share in our passion for high-quality work and enjoy a fun yet fast-paced work environment! This position will be mentored by our team of Professional Engineers and company leadership in the engineering design and analysis of diverse types of projects throughout the Midwest. As an RIC Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to gain diverse design knowledge which will help you grow in your career and prepare for your PE exam. We are looking to add multiple talented individuals to support our below teams:

  • Land/Site Development: Site design, roadway design, utility design, grading and erosion control plans, storm sewer design, and water quality BMP.
  • Water Resources: Stormwater management and sanitary sewer system design, utilities, and other site infrastructure design.
  • Transportation: Roadway design, culvert design, drainage studies, utility coordination, traffic impact studies, and more.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work effectively and professionally with internal team members and external client personnel
  • Attend client meetings, planning commission meetings, city council meetings.
  • Ability to take a project from start to finish, acting as project engineer.
  • Use Civil 3D Pipe Networks to design horizontal and vertical alignments for storm, sanitary, and water mains on site development projects.
  • Perform field assessment of existing infrastructure and construction observation.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and modeling, including stormwater detention and water quality BMP design.
  • Assist with site grading and design.
  • Assist with shop drawing review.
  • Prepare technical reports such as storm reports and SWPPPs.
  • Assist with permit applications.

Technical Requirements

  • 1 year of AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred.
  • 0-5 years of related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Ability to develop GIS, CAD, and data management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of civil engineering concepts
  • Basic knowledge of the latest computer operating systems, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Strong problem-solving and math skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
