Position Summary

Position Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of assigned special populations, youth, athletic, and event programming activities and events.

Position Description Essential Functions
  • Coordinates, implements, directs, and evaluates through the following positions:
    • Active Adults – Programming for 55+ including day and overnight trips, monthly luncheons, exercise classes, clubs, special events, etc.
    • Athletics – Programming for youth and adults including various leagues, tournaments, summer sports camps, instructional programs, and special events.
    • Events & Communication – Coordinates city-sponsored events such as JamBooRee, Concerts on the Green, Car Cruises, Santa’s Arrival, Egg Hunt, 4th of July, and serves as liaison to large-scale events including ArtFest, Taste of Acworth, BeerFest. Coordinates department social media campaigns and website.
    • Therapeutics – Programming for youth and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities, including Horizon Baseball and Kickball, exercise classes, social programs, summer camps, instructional classes, and special events. Liaison to Special Needs Development Group and related fundraisers.
    • Youth Programming – Coordinates large-scale summer camps, school break camps, after-school and mentoring programs, and special events. Liaison to Expanding Horizons Foundation and related fundraisers.
  • Recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises coaches, volunteers, instructors, etc.
  • Coordinates and leads meetings with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Prepares and administers program budgets; makes purchases and controls expenditures.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with a variety of external organizations, including schools, leagues, community groups, etc.
  • Promotes and publicizes programs and activities.
  • Maintains program files and records.
  • Seeks program sponsorships and/or grant funding.
  • Prepares a variety of program reports.
  • Performs related duties.
