Position: Buyer
Department: Purchasing
Primary Objective of Position:
Responsible for purchasing material in our dynamic engineer to order and made to order manufacturing facility with a Customer Driven focus that provides On Time Predictability thru Continuous Improvement.
Major Areas of Accountability:
  • Daily Material Requirement Planning review with executing orders for production materials, MRO items and services.
  • Works collaboratively with planning and suppliers to resolve delivery issues and develop recovery plans for to support on time delivery to customer.
  • Interface with other department representatives to determine specific needs, such as technical requirements, or manufacturing requirements.
  • Processes Engineering Change Order releases for updates to manufacturing and vendors.
  • Follows up on deliveries, obtains proof of delivery if required and resolves invoicing related issues.
  • Responsible to manage inventory for assigned materials to the appropriate level for order quantity, safety stock, excess and obsolete inventories
  • Attends production meetings.
  • Provides regular updates on assigned metrics.
  • Completes other tasks and projects as assigned by the Purchasing Manager
  • Ensures tasks are performed according to organizational requirements for quality management and environmental, health and safety standards, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains data and prepares reports using SAP and Microsoft office software.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Minimum 2+ years Planning, Purchasing, Inventory, Manufacturing, or Engineering experience. Bachelor's degree in a business or technical field a plus.
  • SAP Materials and Planning experience a plus.
  • Demonstrates Inventory Management Skills for order quantity, safety stock quality, stocking determination, identifying excess and obsolete inventories.
  • Excellent communication, computer, and analytical skills required.
  • Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to respond to changing priorities required.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrates excellent inter-personal, group participation, and group management skills.
  • Must be a flexible, high-energy individual, able to handle multiple tasks and frequently changing priorities.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite products with a focus on Excel preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Approximately 80% sitting, 20% walking. Must be able to carry 20 pounds unassisted of production order packages around a manufacturing facility.
  • Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities. This requires climbing stairs and moving over, around, and about shop machinery.

Salary:
$65k to $70k
Will compensate with experience. Position is full-time.
