Essential Functions:

  • Communicates with Manufacturing Engineer Manager regularly to ensure that the Leaderโ€™s decisions and actions are aligned with BTDโ€™s objectives for the department.
  • Leader for the Engineering staff and others as may be assigned to Leaderโ€™s area. Key focus on development of Engineers and site KPIs (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Cost, and Talent).
  • Provide engineering support to sales and the customer to help develop products within the scope of companyโ€™s capabilities, continually modifying and improving processes to increase flexibility.
  • Directs the work of Manufacturing Engineer assistants, Manufacturing Engineers and other resources assigned to the department.
  • Assumes the responsibility to make decisions independently and then, if necessary and/or appropriate, consult the next level of management.
  • Oversees all engineering, maintenance and tooling work order requests for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Utilizes Lean Manufacturing Methodology to identify nonโ€‘valueโ€‘added activities and other opportunities for increased productivity. Eliminates nonโ€‘valueโ€‘added activities where possible and brings them to the attention of others where appropriate.
  • Remains current with technical skills, Leadership skills, and familiarity with each piece of production machinery, and its capabilities, and capacities.
  • Strengths and skills in all departments to serve as a working Leader and problem solver.
  • Ability to serve as the subject matter expert in engineering and train to meet KPIs.
  • Project Management in Operational, Commercial, Automation, and Capital investment Projects.
  • Drive business success through improvement initiatives within the designated BTD Location.

  • Establish performance standards, monitoring employee performance and focusing the Departmentโ€™s attention to areas of opportunity to maximize performance.
  • Maintains ethics and integrity congruent to the Companyโ€™s mission and values.
  • Assists in the development of personnel through positive reinforcement and coaching techniques.
  • Responsibilities include hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assuring problems are resolved; developing leadership in all people.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The minimum level of education and experience required to perform the job.

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Engineering or a technical field or
  • Associateโ€™s degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering or a technical field or
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Engineering or technical field.
  • The ability to travel and be gone for a week or more if required. (New equipment, shows, seminars, training, customer visits, alternate plant locations, etc.)

Compensation Salary Range: OTC13: $92,619 - $138,923 per year. The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(K) match, etc.
