Job description

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has an opening in theOffice of the President as an Administrative Assistant. We have been ranked No.1 among U.S. engineering colleges by the U.S. News & World Report BestColleges Guide for the last 27 consecutive years.

As the Administrative Assistant in the Office of thePresident, you will perform basic clerical duties for the Institute byfielding, screening, and redirecting telephone, and walk-in routine inquiries,greeting visitors and providing general information. You will set up andmaintain filing systems and databases, create and formulate spreadsheets, andpreserve materials from a variety of information systems. This position willalso include projects for various operational areas, including oversight of theInstitute's online textbook system and supporting the Bookstore.

Additionally, the Administrative Assistant will scheduleappointments, meetings and locations using an electronic calendar; plan andschedule w/o consultation; arrange programs/events; attend meetings and preparenotes, follow up as necessary; independently compile materials for meetings.The position will arrange details of complicated travel plans involving lengthytrips; prepare travel schedule, itinerary and appointment contacts; reviewaccuracy of assigned charges; order supplies within guidelines; may assist withtravel reimbursements. This position will monitor budgets for expenses andbalances; investigate discrepancies; process charges, P-Card purchases, andtravel reimbursements; may assist with grant preparation.

Qualified candidates will have an associate degree andthree to five years of professional work experience.

Preferred candidates will have higher educationexperience; excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellentinterpersonal and customer service skills; advanced skills in Microsoft OfficeSuite or related software; ability to learn and adapt to new processes andsystems; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; advancedunderstanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping andfiling; and the ability to work independently.

Pay range is 19.23 - 21.63 (or 40,000 - 45,000 annually). Pay is competitive.A higher pay may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
