Job description

The Supervisor - Manufacturing Engineering is a dual-role position with both leadership & hands-on Engineering responsibilities. This role will be responsible for contributing and guiding a team of Manufacturing Engineering employees in process development, production support & continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will lead and mentor team members, working closely with cross-functional departments to drive improvements in processes, efficiency, quality, and safety across the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Provides technical direction, leadership and support for the factory in lean manufacturing, tooling, manufacturing processes, project management, and training.
  • Leads development and implementation of equipment, tooling, and process solutions for new or improved production operations.
  • Supports development of new and existing products and processes.
  • Guides and reviews input for fiscal planning, capital projects and cost reductions.
  • Reviews product design for manufacturability.
  • Provides technical assistance and support in the implementation of manufacturing concepts & technologies
  • Selects, specifies, and installs of equipment that is statistically capable, reliable, and maintainable as well as safe and ergonomically sound.
  • Conducts time studies as required to support manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluates and implements new and advanced engineering concepts, new equipment, processes, and technological developments in the field to maintain state-of-the art awareness.
  • Develops equipment utilization forecasts and make any proposals necessary to support planned and unplanned future growth and/or requirements changes.
  • Investigates and recommends possible alternative materials in order to improve availability and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintains and reviews processes to ensure safe tools, methods, operations, and equipment are in use throughout the facility.
  • Supports supplier development in the area of manufacturing.
    Supervisory Duties:
  • Manages 1+ direct report(s)
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the assigned Manufacturing Engineering Team.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering or Engineering Technology from a four-year college or university and eight years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
  • Ability to maintain Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) certification.
