Job description

The Programming Manager is the primary liaison for all visitors and programming at the DMC, manages marketing and communications functions for the campus, and directly monitors and coordinates weekly activities of the DMC Outreach Coordinator, Custodians, and Sodexo Head Chef. This involves organizing reservations for boarding, meeting spaces, catering, and events for U Maine affiliates and external parties, as well as undergraduate interns and U Maine's residential Semester by the Sea program. This position carries out DMC teaching, research, and outreach functions by working closely with the DMC Director and Facilities Manager, maintaining communication with faculty and research staff working with the DMC, and staff and administrative officials from the U Maine System. Typical hiring range for this position is $58,000 to $61,894 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Typically has the education associated with a Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience related to academic organizations, professional training workshops, and community outreach activities. 
  • Proficient writing and communication skills, and capacity to engage a wide range of academic, professional, and stakeholder communities with varied backgrounds. 
  • Documented experience in development and delivery of correspondence and outreach products to professional staff, students, external collaborators, and/or stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organization skills related to operations and scheduling of activities.
  • Capacity to provide consistent oversight and coordination of staff managing varied operational components of an academic institution. 
  • Familiarity with multiple modes of communication and media.
  • Experience working with MS Windows, MS Office, Adobe graphics applications, and Google Applications.

Preferred:

  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with University of Maine administrative procedures and operations
