Position: Manufacturing Engineering Manager โ€“ Production (3D & Programming)

Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager โ€“ Production owns all productionโ€‘facing engineering systems, standards, and data supporting RTTโ€™s custom metal manufacturing operations. This role translates approved designs into accurate 3D models, manufacturing methods, routings, labor standards, and CNC programs within Epicor ERP. The position ensures engineering data enables accurate costing, scheduling, and scalable production while partnering closely with Operations and the Plant Superintendent.

Key ResponsibilitiesManufacturing Engineering & ERP Ownership
  • Own all production engineering data within Epicor, including Routings, Bills of Materials, Labor standards, and overhead drivers.
  • Define weld assumptions, material utilization logic, and process constraints required for accurate costing and capacity planning.
  • Establish engineering change control processes impacting production methods, cost, or throughput.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering participation in the Epicor implementation, stabilization, and ongoing governance.
  • Manage outsourced engineering relationships, and ensure output meets design and manufacturing standards.
  • Lead internal 3D drafting resources and outsourced CAD partners.
  • Establish and maintain 3D modeling standards aligned with manufacturing methods, ERP structures, and programming requirements.
  • Ensure released 3D models, BOMs, and routings remain synchronized and revisionโ€‘controlled.
  • Oversee SolidWorks, PDM/Vault standards, access policies, and release discipline.
Programming & Manufacturing Methods
  • Lead Programming team resources.
  • Partner with the Plant Superintendent to refine manufacturability, tooling assumptions, and process capability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives tied to throughput, repeatability, and waste reduction.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a custom or buildโ€‘toโ€‘order environment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineers, drafters, or programmers.
  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, including welding and forming.
  • ERP experience required; Epicor experience strongly preferred.
  • SolidWorks proficiency and experience with PDM/Vault systems.
  • Strong analytical, problemโ€‘solving, and communication skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural focus is a plus.
