Job Overview

The Senior Software Engineer position reports to the Tech Manager, Software Engineering and is responsible for developing and supporting applications leveraging their expertise and knowledge of multiple systems/customer areas to build a robust, scalable, and reliable platform.

You will be part of an experienced engineering team and work with passionate leaders on challenging topics.

What You Will Do
  • Perform coding/configuration, testing, implementation, and documentation for developed solutions, including design specifications.
  • Conduct applications programming activities, encompassing coding, testing, debugging, documenting, maintaining, and modifying applications programs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to extract, analyze, and report data, with a strong attention to detail when identifying data relationships, trends, and anomalies.
  • Consider the long‑term impacts of key design decisions and handle failure scenarios effectively.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and assess the suitability of new software tools for platform development.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to junior developers, including delegating and managing tasks as needed.
  • Commit to meeting overall deliverables with customers and/or management.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Skills You Will Need

Technical Expertise: In‑depth experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores, coding applications using Java or Python, building scalable web services, ESB, and event/stream processing.

Technology Proficiency: Deep understanding of various technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Elasticsearch, stream processing, RDBMS, and NoSQL databases.

Mentorship and Leadership: Act as a coach and mentor to junior developers, delegating and managing tasks as necessary.

Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate technical information and issues, as well as provide solutions to all levels of the business.

Project Management: Proficiency in juggling multiple projects, prioritizing objectives, and communicating timelines to team members.

Ownership Mentality: Desire and ability to take ownership of products/projects.

Application Development Methodology: Expert understanding of all application development processes, serving as a resource to others.

System Maintenance: Expertise in existing applications supporting the business area, ensuring systems perform up to requirements.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
