What is the difference between Engineer Inspector vs Construction Inspector?
| Aspect | Engineer Inspector | Construction Inspector |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Engineering degree, professional engineer (PE) license often preferred | High school diploma or associate degree, certifications like ICC or NICET beneficial |
| Work Environment | Office settings, field inspections, project sites | Construction sites, project sites, field inspections |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Engineering firms, government agencies, infrastructure projects | Construction companies, government agencies, contractors |
Engineer Inspectors and Construction Inspectors both work in construction and infrastructure projects, but Engineer Inspectors typically have an engineering background and may hold a PE license, focusing on technical compliance and design standards. Construction Inspectors primarily ensure construction work meets codes and specifications, often with certifications like NICET. Both roles involve field inspections, but Engineer Inspectors usually have a broader technical scope and higher educational requirements.

OR
B. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE -- College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:
1. Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)1 , or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
