Job description

Come build - and lead - the future of how customers experience AWS.
We are creating a brand-new AWS service from the ground up, and the customer experience sits at the very center of it. This is a rare opportunity to join at the earliest stage as the front-end technical leader for a product that meets customers in two places at once: inside the AWS Management Console, plus through a dedicated off-console experience built specifically for this new service.
What sets this role apart is that we are building an AI-native application from day one. Agentic integrations and conversational, chat-driven workflows are foundational to the product, not features bolted on after the fact

As the lead Front-End Engineer, you won't simply consume these capabilities; you'll define how we build them, setting the patterns and pushing the boundaries of what a front-end experience can do across AWS products.
You'll set the front-end technical direction for the console and off-console experiences, working shoulder-to-shoulder with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to take this service from early definition all the way to launch. Because we're still in the early stages, you'll own the architecture, raise the bar on quality, and mentor other engineers as the team grows. If you're energized by ambiguity, love solving hard problems, and want to help define the next generation of AWS experiences, we'd love to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the front-end architecture for the service across both the AWS Management Console and the new off-console web experience, setting the technical direction and standards others build against - while staying hands-on to design and ship the most complex, high-impact pieces yourself.
- Partner with product managers, UX designers, backend engineers, and science partners to shape product direction, turning ambiguous problems into clear front-end technical strategy and design.
- Define how we build AI-native experiences - establishing the patterns for agentic and conversational workflows (such as streaming responses and real-time updates) and ensuring interfaces are responsive, accessible, and performant at scale.
- Establish and evolve the reusable component libraries, design-system patterns, and front-end architecture that keep the experience cohesive across surfaces, simplifying systems as the product grows.
- Set the bar for end-to-end quality across the team: testing strategy, automated UI testing, CI/CD, and front-end operational excellence.
- Lead code and design reviews for your team, and influence front-end technical decisions with partner teams across AWS.
- Mentor and grow other front-end engineers, helping define the engineering culture and raise the technical capability of the team.
A day in the life
You'll help build a brand-new AWS service from the ground up, owning customer-facing features end to end across our in-console and off-console experiences

Because the product is AI-native, you'll work hands-on with agentic and chat-driven workflows, experimenting with patterns that don't exist yet. Expect plenty of ambiguity, fast iteration, and real influence over the product and customer experience - with teammates who give thoughtful code reviews and a manager invested in your growth. No two days look the same this early, and your work reaches customers in days to weeks, not quarters.
About the team
We're a small, cross-functional team building something new at AWS from the ground up - product managers, UX designers, and engineers working side by side

We move fast, value bias for action, and treat ambiguity as opportunity. As an early member, you'll help set the technical bar and shape the culture as we grow. Expect thorough but kind code reviews, real mentorship, and genuine investment in your growth.

If you love building, you'll feel at home here.
