Based in Fredericton, this role contributes directly to shaping safer, more efficient, and more resilient transportation networks across New Brunswick and beyond. As Design Engineer, you will support highway and infrastructure design projects that strengthen communities, improve mobility, and enable sustainable growth.


Your Impact

  • Highway design, grading, drainage, alignments, and associated civil works to advance regional transportation infrastructure.
  • Deliver detailed design packages, including reports, calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and tender documents.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-transportation planning, structures, geotechnical, environmental-to integrate design solutions seamlessly.
  • Lead components of project delivery including scheduling, task management, and client communication.
  • Contribute to project management activities such as budgeting, risk tracking, resourcing, and quality assurance.
  • Support business development through proposal writing, scope development, and participation in client meetings.
  • Apply engineering judgment and innovation to solve complex design challenges that improve safety, efficiency, and environmental outcomes.

  • A degree in Civil Engineering with experience in highway and infrastructure design.
  • 8 -10 Years of experience
  • Eligibility for professional engineering designation in New Brunswick (P.Eng. or EIT working toward licensure).
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Civil 3D, InRoads/OpenRoads, or equivalent industry software.
  • Experience preparing design drawings, reports, cost estimates, and contract documents for transportation projects.
  • Understanding of TAC geometric design standards and provincial transportation requirements.
  • Demonstrated project coordination or project management experience.
  • Business development exposure-proposal writing, client engagement, or market knowledge within transportation.
  • A collaborative mindset with a passion for improving community mobility and infrastructure resilience.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $89,800 - $118,900

MB & ON: $81,900 - $112,800

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $81,100 - $107,700
