Company:O.E.M. Remanufacturing Company Inc.Number of Openings:1Worker Type:PermanentPosition Overview:The Service Bay Technician is responsible for the disassembly, inspection and assembly of all Caterpillar and other Repair and Return engine components.Job Description:
  • Perform disassembly, assist with failure analysis, component/part inspection, and complete assembly of heavy equipment engines

  • Determine the reusability of parts for all non-standard jobs

  • Utilize documentation such as service letters and service magazines to ensure compliance to current OEM standards; work within the repair and return setting to meet customer requirements regarding additional salvage opportunities, expanded parts re-use, and accurate parts and labour quotation

  • Work with the Technical Services team to help prepare parts for the purpose of diagnosing component failures

  • Review and process documentation per company standards and be able to understand and follow scopes of repair for each process step

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months working in Wage Grade 9 or higher. Relevant & applicable external experience to the position will alternatively be considered.

  • Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C.

  • Experience in the heavy equipment engine field, working on preferably Caterpillar components (disassembly, inspection, assembly, service bay, or test).

  • Proven ability to effectively use precision measuring tools, hand and power tools, and follow instruction using assembly manuals

  • Proven ability to navigate through software programs such as EBOM system, efficiently and effectively logging job progress and ownership

  • Strong organizational skills and safety awareness with the ability to safely adapt to a changing environment

  • Ability to understand and follow scope of repair process and identify scope adjustments is preferred

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to create a safe and positive work environment

  • Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively.

  • Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds

  • Completion of any automotive or HD technician apprenticeship training is preferred.

  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator

  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner & comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures

Note:

  • This posting is for a static afternoon shift; Monday - Thursday, 10 hours per shift

  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
